Genesis 10 - Nations Descended from Noah

Reading from the Amplified Bible (AMP) version..

• "From these, [the people of] the coastlands of the nations were separated and spread into their lands, every one according to his own language, according to their constituent groups (families), and into their nations:" v.5

• "He was a mighty hunter before the Lord; therefore it is said, “Like Nimrod a mighty hunter before the Lord.” v.9

• "These are the families of the sons of Noah, according to their descendants, by their nations; and from these [people] the nations were separated and spread abroad on the earth after the flood." v.32

My personal observations and reflections...

• It's amazing how Genesis 10 has kept and recorded all the descendants of Noah. In a world without computers and technology, God allowed these people to take note, memorize, document and record everything so everyone can read (in the Bible) and gain understanding about the beginning; like me and you in the modern times, 21st century.

Personally, it was hard for me to follow everything while reading, along with the hard pronunciations of names, so the above charts/diagrams (Table of the Nations, https://fromoniontopearl.wordpress.com/the-table-of-nations-from-the-descendants-of-noah-genesis-10-11/) was very helpful! I didn't know all of these things before. God really cares about every detail of the history, it is not apart from His knowledge. I hope and pray that God will give me more wisdom in understanding the early records and history from the Old Testament as a whole.

• "BEFORE THE LORD." I love that phrase! For it to be said about ourselves, and what we do in our lives, how awesome is that? "He is a mighty servant before the Lord; he/she is a skillfull worker/mother/father/etc. before the Lord" I hope all of us will fear God and do everything for the glory of God. 

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17
"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31

• LINEAGE OF JESUS CHRIST. Eventhough not mentioned in Genesis 10, this is the significance of the genealogies in the Bible: God is clearly showing us His ultimate plan of salvation. Out of Shem's descendants, our Savior will eventually come and will be born into this fallen world-- fully man, fully God. The only ONE who is ABLE to save and forgive, everyone.🌎

"Also to Shem, the father of all the children of Eber [including the Hebrews], the older brother of Japheth, children were born." (v.21)

- "Reference is made to Shem being the brother of Japheth. This is possibly to note the spiritual similarity between the two in distinction to Ham and his behavior toward his father. The note of the "elder" refers to Shem who was the oldest son of Noah."

Jesus came from the FIRSTBORN SON of Noah, awesome detail!
